  RAKHI BANDHAN

10-Aug-2014
The utsav of unity, love and brotherhood was celebrated on 10th August 2014 at Sovabazar Natmandir in presence of a good audience. Rakhis were tied on the hands of the persons present and light refreshments were offered.

Artistes of Surosourav (North) performed a well composed programme of songs that included " Banglar Mati Banglar Jal, Banglar Bayu Banghlar Phal - Purno Houk, Purno Houk Hey Bhagoban" of Kaviguru Rabindranah that reminded us about the protest against Bango Bhango in 1905.
This was followed by devotional songs rendered by Shri Shanti Ranjan Kundu, a noted performer.

The effort was appreciated by the audience present.

MILAN MELA
04-Jan-2015
This day long Get-Together, that had earlier taken place at local premises like the Anath Nath Deb's Thakur Bari, Marble Palace and the Pathuriaghata Ghosh Bari in the past, was instead conducted at Shri Dhiren Mondal's Garden House at Rajarhat near the Health Centre.

The participants enjoyed the day with songs and a quiz programme along with palatable dishes for breakfast and lunch This consisted of peas-kochuri, alu-sabji, moya from Joynagar, mutton curry, rice, rohu fish kaliya, lou chingri etc apart from tea and coffee. There were 48 of us this year. We are hoping to have more in the next year.

PITHE PULI UTSAV

11-Jan-2015
This is a traditional utsav of Bengal known as "Pous Parban". Like in previous years we conducted the utsav at Anath Nath Deb's Thakur Bari on Beadon Street.

Eleven participants graced the occasion with their home made mouthwatering items like peas kochuri, alur dom, peas chop, gokul pithe, khir puli, dood pul and pati sapta.

A huge gathering of purchasers were observed from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Most of the tasty items were quickly sold out leaving many disappointed. In all it was a really enjoyable evening.
